Here at Smite.tv, your privacy is very important to us. Please read the following to understand what information we collect and how we use it. If we change this in any meaningful way, we will notify users via email or post a notice on our homepage.
What information do we gather and why?
Certain information that does not identify you personally will be gathered automatically when you visit our site, such as the type of browser used, operating system, pages visited, and date of access. We collect these for site security purposes, to monitor traffic patterns, and help make sure our site is running properly.
If you choose to create a user account, we will ask for a name and email address at minimum. Email addresses are collected only so we can notify users of important changes to the site. We will not make your email address available to any third party for any purpose.
You may choose to have your computer remember your login information for easier access. This will create a small number of cookies to remember your username and encrypted password. The next time you visit the site, you will be automatically logged in. This information will be maintained on your computer until you specifically log out, or until 30 days elapses since your last login. It is recommended that you do not use this option if you are using a public computer.
If you create a user account and vote on videos, we will record your vote and the date the vote was made. We will use this information to create dynamic playlists of recently popular, top-rated, lowest-rated, and several other types of lists and rankings. Your vote will only be used in aggregate calculations and will not be linked with your user account.
Additionally, you may at your discretion provide some demographic information to our site. The purpose of this demographic information is to provide useful statistics about the ratings that are assigned to ads. We will only use this information on an aggregate basis, so that users' individual information can not be identified.
We use this data in calculations for tables, charts and graphs that may be available publicly. Some of this aggregate data may be provided to sponsors who advertise with us. But we will never provide information that could individually identify users.
You may also suggest tags for videos. This information becomes public as soon as you submit it. You can not withdraw your tag once you submit it. If the community agrees that your tag is appropriate, it becomes permanently associated with that video. Otherwise, it will be permanently deleted.
What is our disclosure policy?
As mentioned above, we may provide aggregate data to sponsors in the form of feedback on their ads. This may include statistics broken into categories by gender, income, age, or any other type of demographic information that we collect.
We may disclose your personal information as required by applicable law, or in response to legal process, to protect the rights or property of Smite.tv, or to protect the safety of ourselves, our users, or others.
What security measures do we take?
All information that we collect is stored on our secure servers. All passwords are transmitted and stored in an encrypted format. Any area of our site that contains your personal information is password-protected. It is important that you do not share your passwords with anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. If you are using a public or shared computer, remember to log out and close your browser when leaving our site.
How do we respect children's privacy?
Our sites are not directed at children under the age of 13. We operate our sites in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and will not knowingly collect or use personally identifiable information from anyone under 13.
Other notes
Remember that you should not post your email in any comment area, as it may be visible publicly. While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.
If you would like to remove your user account and personal information from Smite.tv, you may do so from the profile page.
